Hear from some of our families
“My name is Jason Rosenhaus and I am the father of my six year old daughter Aubrey Rosenhaus. For over two years now, Aubrey has had the tremendous good fortune to work with speech therapist, Melanie Cap. My wife Cassandra and I scrutinize very carefully who we allow to work with our daughter, who was four at the time, but we instantly were extremely impressed with Melanie and our appreciation for her devotion to Aubrey has only increased ever since. Aubrey had difficulty with her speech at an early age and Melanie was not the first speech therapist we used but will certainly be the last. From the start, Melanie came to our house and worked with Aubrey in the child's natural setting. Rather than take a strict, disciplinarian approach, Melanie found creative ways to keep Aubrey attentive and also used creative rewards to reinforce positive behavior. Melanie motivated Aubrey to do her best to earn perfect scores on her tests. Instead of dreading speech class, it is the exact opposite where Aubrey asks for lessons with Ms. Melanie and is disappointed when we can't schedule a lesson. Melanie has been very dedicated and most effective with Aubrey. Her character, integrity and trustworthiness are beyond reproach. Simply put, Melanie is a very caring, decent person. We are extremely grateful to her and it is our extraordinary pleasure to show our appreciation to Melanie by writing this letter of recommendation.”

“Melanie is the absolute best! Not only is she helping my only child overcome his expressive language delay, she praises him for his strengths, encourages him to be his authentic self, and she’s also teaching him to be a good friend and a leader. She goes out of her way to meet him at his new school once a week so she can help him learn to express himself in that environment, away from me, and is bridging the gap between my sweet son and his future. She took on my monosyllabic toddler and got him making his own sentences in just about a year. She’s amazing, sweet, funny, fun to get along with, talented and skilled connecting with kids, and at this point she feels like a treasured family friend. I’m so glad we found her and I know with her guidance, my son will soon be the articulate storyteller I’ve been waiting for! And she helps me be a better mom too. I’ve never had a kid before, so I didn’t know how to help him overcome this. Melanie gives me guidance and suggestions and tips to help get him talking. She notices poor behavior habits beginning and helps me nip them in the bud, PLUS, BONUS! She’s helped us with some behavioral issues and meal issues as well. AN ABSOLUTE QUEEN. THANK YOU MISS MELANIE!”

“I was skeptical about speech therapy after our son A.’s negative experience of physical therapy engendered a strong aversion to therapeutic relationships and clinical settings. But when Melanie was offering a free screening, we decided to go and see what it was like since we had concerns about his language and social skills. She handled A. (3 yrs old) so well that he developed an immediate affection for her and cooperated with her. She was much more attentive to background information from us than other therapists we have known. Since Melanie made such a good first impression, we paid for an assessment and then therapy. It helped enormously that CAP Speech Therapy works in the child’s natural environment, so A. did not have to deal with going to a clinical setting. We may have avoided therapy rather than subject him to another clinical setting, but he has done well meeting in libraries and parks.
The improvements in A. after beginning therapy have been rapid and dramatic. He has become significantly more verbally expressive and his social skills are improving. Before starting therapy, we had tried to play board games with him, but it went nowhere. After therapy began, he became interested in playing games. Before therapy, he had developed serious anxiety surrounding social events (esp birthday parties and the like). Speech therapy focused on social skills and helped him overcome this anxiety so that the first birthday party after starting therapy (about two months in) went delightfully smoothly. He had also developed an anxiety about trains and transportation generally, and CAP Speech Therapy has worked remarkable improvement there too. He used to refuse to answer wh-questions, but now does so with increasing confidence and less echolalia. He used to speak to no one outside his parents, but is now speaking more and more to other people. We had tried on our own to deal with all these issues, but made little progress. Melanie’s intervention has produced dramatic results in a short amount of time. A. generalizes the results of speech therapy in significant measures because Melanie has the foresight to involve other people (tutors, assistants) in his therapy and to encourage group play dates with therapy to foster interpersonal skills. And all this happens in a natural rather than clinical environment. Consequently, the benefits of therapy are not specific to A.’s relationship with Melanie, but extend throughout his life. It also helps that Melanie identifies areas for us to work on at home with specific instructions on what to do.
Melanie is an excellent and dedicated speech therapist who has deep knowledge and wide experience. She clearly strives to understand what is happening in the mind of the child she is helping and creatively devises various strategies to elicit improvement. Most importantly, her interventions have proven to be highly effective.”

“This company exceeded my expectations! My daughter was having feeding difficulties and getting most of her nutrition from Pediasure. Within a month, I had already seen changes at mealtimes. It has now been 6 months and my daughter now eats a variety of foods and no longer drinks Pediasure. Melanie tailored the sessions to my daughter’s dietary needs and even helped my family with recipes that would help increase my daughter’s calories. My family is forever grateful!”

“Working with Melanie was a very rewarding experience. My daughter, Angelina, was working with another speech therapist when Melanie came into our life. Although I loved her original therapist, she was very "by the book" and didn't really think outside the box. Angelina was born with Down Syndrome and had very severe eating difficulties. We needed someone open minded enough to get really creative and try new things that weren't necessarily what was expected. Melanie showed tremendous enthusiasm about trying different techniques and tools and always went out of her way to make sure Angelina was comfortable. Our family loved working with Melanie and I would highly recommend her to anyone who is seeking ACTUAL results from a person who ACTUALLY cares! We love you Melanie!”
